CAPSTONE
My 2017-2018 Capstone project combines both my passions for theatre and teaching all into one creative package. As my goal one day is to major in Early Childhood Education at Bowling Green State University. I worked alongside two theatre productions that are majorly children based. First production was Fame Jr. the Musical at Hilliard Heritage middle school. I helped direct and be assistant to Mr. Heaston the director of Fame Jr. Incorporating my knowledge of theatre and directions at teaching I helped out 2-3 days for 4 weeks. Working on lines or general stage presence, each visit was full of new perks and things to work on. I used both my passions to tackle the middle schoolers with patience and guidance. Overall it was absolutely spatular and everyone worked extremely hard, leading to a shining performance on opening night!!

Along with working on Fame Jr., I focused my attention towards the production of The Jungle Book performed by The Hilliard Arts Council. This particular show was produced with an all kids cast ranging from ages of 6 to 12. My future is with pre K- 3rd grade so this was a perfect fit. I worked alongside director Greg Kembitzky and assistant director D.J. for around 2 months, attending practices 4-5 days. Fame Jr. was incredibly fun because I not only love theatre and teaching, but it was an old memory for me since I performed on that stage not too long ago. But for Jungle Book it gave me a different sense of joy to see the little ones face glow with pride of doing what most what was their first theatrical performance. Every week we faced new challenges and experiences. Some days we worked on reading the script and focusing on our lines. While other days we zoned in our bringing out our inner animal to portray wolves, moneys and more. Each day was so rewarding and I was so proud on both April 8 and 9th to see everything come together! Makes my heart smile to know one day this will be my future!
Here I've included my log sheet, pictures and thoughts during the production of Fame Jr.
Along with an article of my experience written by Darby's own Panther Press.
I've also attached my Jungle Book log sheet & pictures! Plus a link to the HAC website!
