Alton Darby Elementary

Weeks 1-6:

In my first few weeks I was overjoyed to get to know these energic second graders. After mastering their names I automatically felt even more connected to them. Right away I noticed how positive Mrs. Wolfe makes her classroom and the students definitely respond well to that environment. Everyday routine is working on their writing skills, from nonfiction to fiction to comic strips! Now matter what idea or experience they had they found a way to tell their story. Once their thoughts were on paper next we worked on the structure part, using punctuation, capitals and proper spacing. Next they transition into the math lesson for the day, varying in carpet time, to ST Math on the iPads to individual worksheets. Already Mrs. Wolfe's class is practicing changeling their math brains and not giving up even if the problem seems hard. On top of everything I also taught three different lessons about writing, reading and math. Including a innovated lesson on addition/subtraction using candy corn!   As my time at Alton Darby progresses I am ecstatic to learn more about elementary education.
